A bored hacker modified an Eliza programme to act as an IRC sex-chat bot that impersonated an eighteen year old girl (or, rather, impersonated a sex-chat afficianodo of indeterminate gender impersonating an eighteen year old girl).
He assumed that people would try to have cyber-sex with his bot and get bored, but in fact a surprising number were convinced and even got off with it.
In my mind, sex robots like these are designed to make men treat women as bodies, and not as people with emotions, thoughts, and spirits.
By removing the actual woman from the whole experience, sex dolls are the realization of a society that too often ignores the person part of a woman, and only focuses on the sexual parts.
The idea is that men don’t just want to have sex, they want to talk to a person as well.
Men can create a “dream personality” for their robot, and talk to them afterwards. Are we really shifting from real relationships to virtual ones with robots?
This whole concept of programming synthetic skinned “Roxxxy the sexbot” with AI ‘personality’ put me over the edge in surreal and creepy ‘yougawdabefreakinkiddingme’ mode…AND that was even BEFORE I heard about acting out rape fantasies in this ‘world’s first life-size robotic girlfriend.” Ugh.
